PomPom has had a busy month, with the Work Ready Kāpiti #SuperMeet, the Electra launch events and the TEDxKāpiti extravaganza. It was all hands on deck ensuring that all our events ran smoothly.

What is TEDx?
TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. Every TEDx event is given a theme, and in 2022 Kāpiti and Horowhenua embraced the theme “Emerge” for its inaugural event.
With wonderful speakers from across the region, entertainment and of course a delicious spread of kai provided by a local cafe.
2022 saw the Kāpiti Coast host their first ever TEDx event with the theme Emerge. We are so excited that PomPom was able to take on the role of Event lead, Charlotte said that “it's been great to work with some really awesome local businesses throughout the process. The team of volunteers were passionate, committed, creative and all focussed on the same end goal - delivering a successful inaugural TEDx event for Kāpiti.”
This full-day event saw local speakers, performers and attendees from across the region brought together to share ideas and embrace the theme of ‘Emerge’. Emerge means to come to light. To move out or away from something and to become apparent, or even prominent. It means new ideas.
“It was an incredible event to be a part of, the licensee - Lorraine Hamilton had the original vision for the event and saw it through to the end with commitment and passion.
We had a stunning venue and our team was incredible. The tech team led by Eilidh Hamilton, the oldest of which was 17 ran the AV without fault for the entire 6hr event and the speakers and performers were moving, passionate and incredibly talented.
Local artist Liana Stupples created the most incredible art engagement pieces and caterer Tom Thumb delivered the most beautiful morning tea and lunch too gorgeous to eat!

We look forward to providing support again in the future to the TEDx programme and seeing how it grows in the smaller regions of Aotearoa.
